Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi have both introduced their manifestos in the context of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly elections.
The Mahayuti has prioritized the comparison of its tenure with that of the Maha Vikas Aghadi in public, while both parties have made numerous promises.
Mahayuti leaders are asserting that they have outperformed the Maha Vikas Aghadi in all facets. Conversely, it has been asserted that the Mahayuti’s tenure was marked by a greater amount of development work than that of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, with the former being credited with bringing about a “development revolution” after engaging with numerous individuals.
In addition, there are numerous individuals who contend that the Mahayuti has outperformed the Maha Vikas Aghadi in all aspects when contrasting the two alliances.
The Mahayuti Government has expedited the implementation of numerous initiatives.
In June 2022, the Mahayuti administration was established under the leadership of Eknath Shinde. This government has developed and executed a variety of initiatives in the state over the past two and a half years. Eligible women beneficiaries are receiving ₹1,500 per month under the ‘Mazi Ladki Bahin’ program.
In addition, the government has announced the ‘Annapurana Yojana’, which provides three free cylinders annually to women, the ‘Ladki Laxmi’ scheme, and free higher education for females. As per the public’s assertion, no such initiatives were implemented to promote women’s welfare during the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s tenure.
Programs for Young People and Farmers
The central government implemented the “Kisan Samman Yojana” to provide farmers with ₹500 per month in order to empower them. An additional ₹500 was provided by the state government to the Mahayuti government. Additional programs for farmers were instituted, including crop insurance at ₹1, agricultural electricity bill exemptions, and free electricity. A provision of ₹14,000 crore was allocated for the provision of complimentary electricity.
The youth were provided with educational research and training through the implementation of a variety of initiatives, including ‘On-the-Job Training’, ‘Sarthi’, and ‘Barti’. The ‘Ladki Bhau’ initiative will provide assistance to more than 10 lakh youthful individuals. The Mahayuti government also resolved to offer facilities to young people from other communities through a variety of corporations. A decision was reached to increase the pension amount for senior citizens.
Recruitment for 75,000 government positions
The recruitment of government employees is a critical issue for the younger generation. The Mahayuti government has recruited for 75,000 government positions over the past two years.
The honorarium for Anganwadi workers, agricultural workers, and Gram Rozgar Sevaks has been increased, and a pension scheme that is preferred by government employees has been implemented. During its tenure, the Mahayuti government successfully recruited 18,000 police constables.
Establishing One Million Entrepreneurs
The ‘Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation’ was empowered by the Mahayuti government to empower the Maratha community while working in the employment sector. This initiative resulted in the creation of over one lakh entrepreneurs. The initial Mahayuti government also resolved to establish a distinct ministry for the differently-abled. Numerous job fairs have presented employment opportunities to thousands of youthful individuals.
New Health Sector Facilities
The Mahayuti administration, under the leadership of Eknath Shinde, initiated the ‘Balasaheb Thackeray Aapla Dawakhana’ scheme in the health sector. This initiative began by providing free medical check-ups at hundreds of health centers. Furthermore, the insurance coverage was increased from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh under the ‘Mahatma Phule Jan Arogya Yojana’, thereby facilitating the treatment of critical diseases for the underprivileged. In addition, the Mahayuti government resolved to establish ten additional medical colleges during its tenure.
The Dharavi Redevelopment Project is gaining momentum.
The advancement of any state is contingent upon the development of its infrastructure. The Mahayuti government has made substantial judgments regarding the development of ports, railway facilities, highways, and roads. Some examples are the ‘Atal Setu’ and ‘Mumbai Metro-3’ projects. Additionally, the government has expedited the redevelopment of Dharavi, which was previously referred to as Asia’s largest ghetto. The tender process has been finalized, and the chosen company has initiated the survey of the settlements.
A nine percent increase in foreign direct investment
The Mahayuti government has published a report that compares its tenure to that of the Maha Vikas Aghadi, thereby demonstrating its advancement. The state’s GDP growth rate was 1.9% during the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s tenure, while the Mahayuti government achieved a rate of 8.5%. Maharashtra received 26.83% of India’s total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) during the Maha Vikas Aghadi era; however, this percentage increased to 37% during the Mahayuti government. Although the Maha Vikas Aghadi constructed 6.57 lakh houses for the impoverished, the Mahayuti government asserts that it has constructed 10.52 lakh houses.
Mahayuti’s Dual Assistance in Natural Disasters
The primary objective of the ‘Shabari Adivasi Gharakula Yojana’ is to construct housing for the tribal community. A total of ₹447 crore was approved for 18,119 houses during the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s tenure, while the Mahayuti government sanctioned ₹771 crore for 1.25 lakh homes. The Maha Vikas Aghadi government provided ₹8,701 crore in aid to farmers in response to natural disasters, while the Mahayuti government increased this amount to ₹16,309 crore. The Mahayuti government also allocated ₹28,811 crore to self-help groups in rural areas, which is nearly double the amount allocated by the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
More than double the number of job fairs in comparison to Maha Vikas Aghadi
The Maha Vikas Aghadi approved ₹2,718 crore under the ‘Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Swadhar Yojana’, which the Mahayuti government subsequently increased to ₹4,108 crore. Under the Mahayuti government, the number of MSME units, which are essential for employment generation, increased by 77% from an average of 8.10 lakh during the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s tenure to 14.41 lakh. Job festivals have been the primary focus of the Mahayuti government in order to generate employment. The Mahayuti government conducted 1,138 job fairs and provided employment to 151,000 youth, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi organized 396 job fairs and employed 36,000 youth, according to their report card.
