The new Telugu web series ‘The Mystery of Moksha Island’ is now streaming on Disneyplus Hotstar. It stars Nandu, Priya Anand, Sonia Aggarwal, Ashutosh Rana, Akshara Gowda and others in important roles. Let’s see how impressive this web series is in this review.

Story:

A scientist named Vishwak Sen (Ashutosh Rana) dies after saving his legacy and companies on an island called Moksha. With this, his team invites his family members Venkat (Nandu), Jhansi (Priya Anand), Aditi (Sonia Aggarwal), Meena (Sudha), Isha (Tejaswi Madiwada) and others to that island. However, they have nothing to do with each other. Vishwak writes in his will that whoever spends a week on this island will give his property. Vishwak’s other wife Maya (Akshara Gowda) looks after the welfare of the arrivals. However, as the days go by, each one of the arrivals is lost and killed. Venkat and team think that something will happen in that island. So what is happening in Moksha Island..? Why family members don’t know about each other..? Is Vishvak really dead or is this all a drama..? Why are those who came dying..? All these questions must be answered by watching this web series.

Plus Points:

The makers have selected an interesting story and narrated it somewhat well. The mystery is wrapped up very tightly. The first episode takes off very quickly and takes the audience into the real story. Later two episodes are also impressive without any lag or unnecessary drama.

Nandu, Priya Anand and others entertained in their roles in the performance of the actors. Priya Anand’s character is well known, especially the way she handles the twist in the story. Roshan Kanakala surprises with his performance. He carried the role of negative shades very perfectly.

Ashutosh Rana and Akshara Gowda also played their roles well. It must be said that the supporting cast Tejaswi, Sudha and Bhanuchander have done a decent job.

Music has also helped this series. The music is a plus for the suspenseful scenes of the story. Build values are good.

Minus Points:

A mystery thriller means the entire story should entertain the audience. Interest should be created in the story without any stretch. But, the way the story is stretched in this leaves the audience disappointed.

Fans of mystery thrillers can predict this story beforehand. But the common audience will find this story irrelevant. It would have been better if there were some more twists in the story. Due to their absence, the story fails to engage the audience throughout.

A couple of slow episodes, unnecessary characters, intimate scenes, unimpressive screenplay have affected this web series badly. While some characters are well designed, others fall very flat. In addition to this, the story was stretched without answering many questions in the series. The last two episodes were smoothed out due to a writing week. A stronger story would have made ‘The Mystery of Moksha Island’ a more interesting thriller.

Technical Department:

Anish Yohan Kuruvilla’s performance was not bad. However, if the last four episodes were handled better, this story would have been loved by all. Writers Prashant Verma and Sanjay Roy should focus on an engaging script. Cinematography and music are the strong points of this web series. The web series is visually impressive as the production values are very rich.

Verdict:

Overall ‘The Mystery of Moksha Island’ is quite a crowd pleaser. Nandu, Priya Anand, Akshara Gowda and Ashutosh Rana impressed with their performances. Had the story had the ability, interesting twists and engaging screenplay, the outcome of this web series would have been different. Suspense thriller fans may not like this series at all.
