PM Modi pays tribute to Charan Singh on Kisan Diwas Farmer’s Day

Born in 1902 in a Jat family in the western part of the state of Uttar Pradesh, Chaudhary Charan Singh rose to become an important political leader in the country. He left the Congress party and became the face of anti-Congress politics, especially in North India. Later he also became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The nation along with the government honored his services by awarding him the Bharat Ratna Award in 2024.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar also paid tribute to Chaudhary Charan Singh on this occasion. While talking about his efforts for the welfare of farmers, he said that agriculture sector plays a vital role in India’s economic growth. Speaking to the media at Kisan Ghat, he said, “Chowdhary Charan Singh dedicated his life for the welfare of farmers. Let us all hope that these celebrations will bring changes that will be beneficial to the farmers.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid his respects today. “I pay heartfelt tribute to ‘Bharat Ratna’ Chaudhary Charan Singh who dedicated his life to the upliftment of the poor, villages and farmers,” he said on Twitter. On this occasion, he gave this message to inspire the farmers on the occasion of Farmers’ Day.

In this respectable context, Chaudhary Charan Singh’s movement brought about changes in people’s lifestyles. His grandfather, Jayant Singh, is working as a minister in the current BJP-NDA government. His vision for the welfare of the farmers was a great inspiration to the society and even today his contribution to the economic development of the farmers cannot be forgotten.
