The awaited sequel film “Vidudala 2” directed by director Vetri Maran with Tamil versatile hero Makkalselvan Vijay Sethupathi in the lead roles, Suri, Manju Varrier and others has released this week in our Telugu as well. Let’s see how entertaining this movie is in the review.
Story:
If we come to the story… In the first part, it starts from the investigation of Perumal (Vijay Sethupathi), who is known as Kurupan, who was caught by the police. Has Kumaresan (Suri) who played a key role in getting him involved in this process received any promotion or not? What do the police plan to do with Perumal caught in this order? How things have changed. Who is this Perumal? Why does he fight so much for the weak and downtrodden? What happened in his life? What Kumaresan realized in this sequence is the original story of this movie.
Plus Points:
In this sequel, which was brought as a continuation of Part 1, the way Vijay Sethupathi’s character has been portrayed in a manner that is consistent with it, impresses. Also, in the first part, the reason for some hard hitting incidents, the truth behind them, the way of thinking from Vijay Sethupathi’s character and the police side, and the effect of knowing a truth, are impressive in the movie.
And Vijay Sethupathi excelled in his role. It should be said that he lived the role of how he grew up to be a movement leader from a young age. Manju Warrier also impressed with his performance in this movie. Also actors Suri and Gautham Menon have done well in their screen space.
And the other actors who are with them, Chetan, are impressive with their natural performances. Also, some of the exciting moments in this movie are impressive. Along with these, the hard hitting ending given to Vijay Sethupathi’s role in the film is also good.
Minus Points:
The background taken by Vetrimaran is good till this movie but the story moves slowly in this movie. Especially in the second half, most of the scenes seem to be stretched unnecessarily. Also, those who watch the movie only for Suri may be disappointed.
Sethupathi’s dominance is seen in this movie but Suri’s role does not have much importance. Also Manju’s warrior role seems to have gone by the wayside after a while. In addition to these, many dialogues and scenes in the movie on topics like revolution and movements may not be understood by everyone, especially the current generation. Also the role of Hindi actor director Anurag Kashyap was wasted in the movie.
Technical category:
The production values in this movie are not bad. Ilayaraja’s music is effective in many scenes. Also the visuals are good from the cinematography of R Wale Raj. Editing should be done better. Mainly, many scenes should be cut in the second half of the movie. And the VFX work week in the movie.
When it comes to the director Vetrimaran.. I have to say that he has given a decent work in this movie. Not much in the first part range but many scenes should be designed better. The way Vijay Sethupathi’s character is portrayed, the way he describes the situations of many scenes is good but they are stretched too much at one time. With this, the movie seems to be boring. With this, his work for this movie may not be able to fully engage his fans.
Verdict:
If seen as a whole.. this “Vidudala Part 2” can be said to be Vijay Sethupathi’s one man show. But it is difficult to decide the result of the movie because of one hero. Okay till the first half, Sethupathi’s role also engages the audience but the second half of the movie is weak. The director lags the proceedings in the second half. With these, this movie, which came as a sequel to the first part of the movie, is not completely impressive.
