Story: DSP Inbaraj (Suriya) is a cop whose name alone makes criminals tremble. Surprisingly, this celebrated officer walks away from the uniform to step into politics. On one side there is Maya (Nazriya), the spirited house help in his home, and on the other there is Eeswaran (Naslen), a cold-blooded killer playing his own game. How does a murder mystery turn Inbaraj’s life upside down, and how does he crack the case without the badge? That forms the rest of the story. The twists are best experienced on the big screen.

Analysis: Jithu Madhavan blends his trademark humour with murder-mystery suspense into a smooth, engaging mix. The story keeps you guessing from the start. Suriya’s introduction scene is a treat for fans. The first half rides on laughs and stylish elevations, and the interval twist raises curiosity for what follows. The second half scores with the investigation and the mind games between hero and villain, leading to a satisfying climax. With entertainment taking priority over violence, it is a film the whole family can enjoy.

Performances: Suriya is in vintage form, full of energy. Sporting two distinct looks, he looks especially dashing in the younger avatar and impresses with both action and comic timing. Nazriya is delightful as Maya with her natural acting and playful lines. Naslen is a real surprise as Eeswaran, delivering a chilling villain act in his very first Tamil film. Anandraj and Lal do full justice to their roles.

Technical Aspects: Sushin Shyam’s background score is the soul of the film and makes the elevation scenes explode in theatres. Vineeth Augustian’s camera work is stylish and rich. The production values from Suriya and Jyotika are top-notch.

Plus Points:

  • Suriya’s vintage energy and two looks
  • Jithu Madhavan’s signature humour and making
  • Nazriya’s lively performance
  • Naslen’s surprise turn as the villain
  • Sushin Shyam’s background score
  • Unpredictable twists and a strong interval bang

Rating: 3.5/5
