Kollywood’s versatile hero Dhanush’s career benchmark film is his 50th film as the hero. Let’s see in the review how this movie, which many people have been waiting for with faith in Dhanush’s direction.

Story:

Coming to the story.. Karthava Rayan (Dhanush) his two younger brothers Muthu Rayan (Sandeep Kishan) and Manikya Rayan (Kalidasu Jairam) along with his younger sister Pasi Papa Durga (Dushara Vijayan) come to Anjanapuran in Chennai with a shocking incident that happened at their young age. Also Karthava loves his younger sister so much that he will sacrifice for her. And Shekhar (Selva Raghavan) joins him in Anjapuram but with his hard work, Karthava makes his two younger brothers and sister grow up. But there is a power war going on between the two local dons Sethuraman (SJ Surya) and Durai (Sharavanan) staying there. What are the conditions for Ryan to come in between them? How will his younger brothers turn against Ryan? What will Karthava do from there? What will the policeman (Prakash Raj) who came to stop the crime do? You have to watch this movie to know what will happen in the end.

Plus Points:

First of all talking about the performances of the actors in this movie but it must be said that Dhanush has given perfect roles to each and every actor. From his role as Karthava Rayan to Prakash Raj who appeared in the role of a cop, he took solid casting. But it must be said that Dhanush has once again shown his versatility as Karthava Rayan in this movie. It is good to show many emotions and action sequences with his mark mass.

Also, young hero Sandeep Kishan got a good role in this film. Sandeep played his role very naturally. And Kalidas doesn’t give a decent performance in this movie after Jairam Vikram. But it must be said that actress Dushara Vijayan, who played the role of his younger sister along with them, is a surprising package. She excelled in her role. Some mass scenes on her are also good.

Also, SJ Surya Saravanan, who appeared as villains, impresses with the scope of his roles. Also actress Aparna Balamurali gave a good performance alongside Sandeep. Along with them, Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar, Divya Pillai and others looked decent in their roles. Also, the scenes are elevated with decent story songs and Rahman’s score.

Minus Points:

It must be said that the depressing aspects of this film are also good. Dhanush does not have a strong story as the main. He leads the entire film with a line that is well known to everyone in the masses. With this, there is not much excitement about what will happen next for this movie. Also, many scenes seem like we have seen them in many movies.

Even in our Telugu Tamil many movies like Lakshmi and Narappa original Dhanush movie Asuran are remembered. With these, the movie routine feels like a regular mass movie. Also, there are no mind-blocking twists in the movie. Also, the roles of actors like SJ Surya and Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar have to be shown more strongly. As much as there are interesting elements in the film, there are also unimpressive elements.

Technical category:

The production values are good in this film. Also Telugu dubbing care has also been taken well. Rahman took care of his work in the technical team. Some of the good songs were done with solid re-recording in some scenes. And the cinematography in the movie is impressive. Editing is fine.

And when it comes to director Dhanush… he has done full justice to this film as an actor but as a director this time he has not done full justice to his benchmark film. He took the routine line but it was good to handle it without getting bored. Also the choice of actors is good but the screenplay could have been made more engaging. With this, his work as a director is average for this movie.

Verdict:

Overall, Dhanush’s 50th self-directed movie “Raayan” has as many positive aspects as there are painful aspects. If not, Dhanush’s way of directing the story without boring anywhere will make the movie safe. It doesn’t matter if it’s a little routine line, those who want to watch a decent mass movie from Dhanush can try this movie at once.
