Superstar Mahesh Babu’s cult classic Khaleja, directed by Trivikram Srinivas, is making headlines once again — this time for its massive pre-release sales ahead of its much-anticipated theatrical re-release. The renewed buzz around the film reflects the strong emotional connection fans have developed over the years, even though the film had a lukewarm response during its original release in 2010.
Speaking at a recent press meet, producer C. Kalyan recalled the initial reception of Khaleja, saying, “At that time, expectations were high, but audiences were confused after watching it. Maybe it was ahead of its time.” He added emotionally, “Perhaps it was written that Khaleja would be truly appreciated only after 15 years.” He expressed hope that the re-release would give the film the recognition it always deserved.
The film features a strong ensemble cast including Anushka Shetty, Prakash Raj, Brahmanandam, Ali, and Sunil. With Mani Sharma‘s music continuing to dominate playlists even today, Khaleja has evolved into a fan-favorite for its unique storyline, satire, and powerful dialogues.
With fans eagerly booking tickets and celebrating the film’s return to the big screen, Khaleja seems poised for a well-deserved second innings. The re-release is not just a nostalgic celebration but a testament to how good cinema finds its audience — even if it takes time.
