YS Sharmila: Why Is the AP Congress President Missing in Action?

YS Sharmila: Why Is the AP Congress President Missing in Action? The absence of YS Sharmila, the president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee, has sparked intense debate within the party. Despite the Congress party’s nationwide support for student protests against Delhi Police actions, Sharmila has remained completely out of sight in AP. Her phone has been switched off, and she has not participated in any recent party activities, raising serious questions about her leadership.

The crisis began four days ago when Congress leaders in AP submitted petitions at the Governor’s bungalow. Sharmila was notably absent. The situation escalated in Vijayawada on Wednesday, where Congress and BJP workers clashed, throwing eggs and stones at each other. BJP AP president Madhav was reportedly present, but Sharmila stayed silent. Party leaders are now openly alleging that she is avoiding confrontation, especially during key protests.

Sharmila’s withdrawal from student agitations and her decision to keep her phone off have become major talking points. Even when Congress held a dharna against charges on students, she remained in the background. When BJP workers stormed the party’s state office, Andhra Ratna Bhavan, Sharmila did not come out to address the situation. A senior leader’s disclosure to the media about her absence has created a sensation.

The growing question within AP Congress is why Sharmila is staying away from party activities. Her silence during critical moments has led to heated discussions. As the party faces internal and external challenges, Sharmila’s lack of visible action is becoming a significant concern for members who expect proactive leadership in tough times.
