SJ Suryah: The Idhayam Murali cameo he declined has become an interesting revelation from the sets of the recent Kollywood hit. The rom-com starring Atharvaa, which became a box-office success, features Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil in a key cameo role. However, director Akash Baskaran has now disclosed that he first approached SJ Suryah for the part before turning to Fahadh Faasil.
The director explained that SJ Suryah was his initial choice for the character that eventually went to Fahadh Faasil. “SJ Suryah sir was the initial choice for Fahadh Faasil sir’s character in Idhayam Murali. But SJ Suryah sir declined, saying that he didn’t want to do cameos,” Akash Baskaran stated. This decision by SJ Suryah led the filmmaker to approach Fahadh Faasil with the business cut of the film.
Fahadh Faasil’s acceptance came as a surprise to the director. “I thought he would decline, but to my surprise, he accepted. He was free only on Sundays, and we shot his portions over four Sundays,” Akash Baskaran added. The film’s cast also includes Kayadu Lohar and Preity Mukhundhan as female leads, with Natarajan Subramaniam, Niharika NM, music director Thaman, Jonita Gandhi, and others in important roles. Thaman composed the music for Idhayam Murali.
In conclusion, the SJ Suryah cameo he declined paved the way for Fahadh Faasil to deliver a memorable performance in Idhayam Murali, adding to the film’s widespread appeal and box-office success. The revelation highlights how casting decisions can change the trajectory of a film.
