The incident occurred on the 15th of this month when a woman was fetching water with a motor in Guntur’s Krishnababu Colony. TDP’s 21st Division Secretary Mallela Venkataramanamurthy reportedly got into a fight with her, leading to an attack on the woman and her family member. The woman was allegedly dragged on the pavement and beaten.
Lokesh immediately informed Chief Minister Chandrababu about the TDP leader attack and advised strict action. He made it clear that everyone is equal before the law and that having political affiliation will not allow anyone to escape punishment. Lokesh stated, It is a big mistake to think we can escape if we have political affiliation. Following the victim’s complaint, the police registered a criminal case and arrested the accused. The party also promptly suspended the leader.
Guntur MLA Galla Madhavi confirmed the suspension of the accused from the party’s primary assembly. In response to the TDP leader attack, Lokesh emphasized zero tolerance for those who harm women’s dignity. Police have registered a case against Venkataramanamurthy and eight others. Officials assured all measures will be taken to provide justice to the victim, reiterating that the law is equal for all.
