Project Meghalaya: TVK Conspiracy Uncovered has become a major political storm in Tamil Nadu. The investigation into an alleged plot to topple the Vijay Sarkar government is intensifying, with shocking allegations surfacing against several individuals. The Chennai police have already arrested nine people and are conducting a thorough probe into the conspiracy.
The case came to light after Oothangarai TVK MLA N. Ilayaraja filed a police complaint. He accused YouTuber Thirunavukkarasu, who runs the opinion polling firm IPDS, of offering him Rs 35 crore. According to the complaint, the accused threatened his family and pressured him to vote against the party whip in the assembly. Project Meghalaya was reportedly a plan to approach around 15 TVK MLAs to destabilize the government.
In a significant development, the police interrogated a senior journalist from a popular news channel and seized his mobile phone on July 15 and 16. Investigators claim they found evidence of contact with accused Thirunavukkarasu. However, the Press Club of Chennai strongly condemned this action, though the police maintain they are following the law. The investigation has now expanded, with summons issued to former minister and DMK leader Balaji and his brother Ashok.
The DMK has completely denied all allegations, calling them false and politically motivated. The party claims the TVK is using this case for political gain.
