Kia Syros EV: The electric version of Kia’s compact SUV has been spotted completely undisguised ahead of its expected launch later this month. Dealers have unofficially started accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs. 25,000, even though Kia India has not made any official announcement. The Syros EV will become the second Kia model in India to transition from a petrol engine to an electric powertrain.
Visually, the Kia Syros EV retains most of the styling from the standard Syros, with only a few EV-specific updates. At the front, it gets a slimmer closed-off grille and a slightly revised bumper. Signature elements like vertically stacked LED headlamps and triangular bumper inserts are carried over. The sides show the same silhouette with thick B-pillar, rising window line, and body cladding. New dual-tone 17-inch alloy wheels are added, and flush front door handles hint at a motorized opening function. The rear is nearly unchanged, except for an ‘EV’ badge on the tailgate.
Inside, the cabin closely resembles the petrol Syros. Dual digital displays for the infotainment and instrument cluster are present, along with physical controls for climate and media. The steering wheel now has paddle shifters for adjusting regenerative braking. Depending on the variant, features may include a panoramic sunroof, powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, and rear seat ventilation. It is unclear if the Syros EV will offer an ADAS suite.
The Kia Syros EV is expected to share battery options with the Carens Clavis EV. A 42 kWh battery pack will be for the standard-range version, and a larger 51.4 kWh unit for higher variants. Claimed driving ranges are around 420 km and 520 km respectively, based on ARAI estimates. Both packs will likely pair with a front-mounted electric motor, though power figures are not yet disclosed. The Syros EV is expected to be priced between Rs. 15 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against the Tata Nexon EV and MG Windsor EV in the compact electric SUV segment. The Kia Syros EV promises a familiar design with modern electric performance for Indian buyers.
