The Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, continues to attract an enormous number of devotees from across the globe. As of Thursday, over 10 crore devotees have taken part in the spiritual celebrations. The Uttar Pradesh Government reported that by noon on the day of Makar Sankranti, 30 lakh people had already taken a holy bath at the Triveni Sangam.
On Makar Sankranti alone, approximately 3.5 crore devotees participated in the holy dip, while 1.7 crore people observed the Paush Poornima celebrations. Given the massive influx of devotees, the government has imposed restrictions on the number of people allowed for the holy bathing on specific days, although there will be no such restrictions on other days.
The government estimates that around 45 crore devotees are expected to attend this year’s Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13 and will continue until February 26. The event is one of the largest spiritual gatherings in the world, drawing millions to partake in the sacred rituals of the Kumbh Mela.
