New 2026 Toyota Hilux India Launch In July: Tech Upgrades, Same Diesel Engine

New 2026 Toyota Hilux India Launch In July: Tech Upgrades, Same Diesel Engine. The next-generation pickup truck has been globally revealed with an all-electric powertrain, but the India-spec version will retain the familiar 2.8L diesel engine when it launches next month.

The global-spec Hilux EV debuted in late 2025 with a fully electric setup, featuring a 59.2kWh battery pack and dual motors producing 205Nm and 268.6Nm of torque, offering a WLTP range of over 240km. In contrast, the new 2026 Toyota Hilux for India is expected to stick with the proven 2.8L GD-series turbo diesel engine, generating 204PS and 420Nm (manual) or 500Nm (automatic). Toyota may also introduce a 48V ‘Neo Drive’ mild hybrid system, similar to the Fortuner, along with a part-time 4WD drivetrain.

Inside, the new 2026 Toyota Hilux features a significantly more upmarket cabin. The highlight is a dual 12.3-inch display setup on a redesigned dashboard, complemented by a new three-spoke steering wheel, wireless charging, dual-zone climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, connected car tech, 360-degree cameras, and ADAS safety features. Externally, the pickup gets a sportier look with a honeycomb grille, slim LED headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, and bold ‘TOYOTA’ lettering on the tailgate.

With its July launch, the new 2026 Toyota Hilux promises to blend modern design and premium features with the trusted diesel engine and off-road capability that Indian buyers prefer.
