Telangana Exhibitors Association at the office of Telangana Film Chamber of Commerce in the backdrop of the recent announcement by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy that special movie shows will not be allowed in Telangana state and ticket rates will not be increased. A press conference was held on Monday. Telangana Exhibitors Association Chairman Vijender Reddy, Andhra Pradesh Exhibitors Sector Chairman TS Ram Prasad, Telangana Exhibitors Association Secretary Bala Govind Raj, Ongole Exhibitor Gorantla Veerinayudu, Telangana Film Chamber, EC Member, Distributor Satyanarayana Goud and others participated. On this occasion…
Telangana Exhibitors Association Chairman Vijender Reddy said, “Increasing movie ticket prices will create confusion among the audience. Because we have come to know that they feel that they are charging inflated ticket prices even for normal movies. Audiences are suffering due to setting different rates for each movie. In the first three to four days, middle class people, students and fans who do small jobs watch movies more. It is painful to collect high ticket rates from such people. Recently we also met Dil Raju to fix the ticket rates at any rate. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy mentioned the same thing recently. We welcome his decision. Also, Cinematography Minister Komati Reddy Venkata Reddy has also made the Chief Minister’s statement more clear. We also express our special gratitude to him. The audience does not really notice the jives that come with increasing the ticket rates. The same rates are expected to continue. That effect is falling on the movie collections. In the recent meeting held at the Telugu Film Chamber, it was thought that the audience was suffering due to the increase in ticket rates. Now with the decision taken by Revanth Reddy that the ticket rates will not be increased, the theaters seem to have come to life. If the ticket rates are fixed without increasing, more audience will watch the movie and enjoy it. On this occasion, we are thanking the Chief Minister and the Minister of Cinematography,” he said.
Andhra Pradesh Exhibitors Sector Chairman T. S. Ram Prasad said, “The Telangana government’s announcement that the ticket rates will not be increased in the coming days is good for the film industry and the audience. We think it will happen. We are saying not to increase the benefit shows and ticket rates. Some producers say that they have spent too much on the film and increase the rates. Due to this, the number of people coming to the theaters is also decreasing. Impacting collections. We want to bring to the attention of the AP government that as Telangana government has decided, without benefit shows in AP, action should be taken to ensure that the ticket rates do not increase too much. By increasing the ticket rates, the burden falls on the audience who comes to the cinema. Such actions cause loss to theaters but not profit. Due to such actions, medium budget movies are suffering from collections. We will request that the decision taken by the Telangana government should be implemented in AP as well,” he said.
Telangana Exhibitors Association Secretary Bala Govind Raj said, “We have been observing the confusion caused by increasing the ticket rates since three or four years. Now it has reached its peak. By increasing the ticket rate to 1000 rupees. The audience expressed surprise. We feel that many people did not come to the theaters because of that. There are also occasions when theater owners have spoken that there are days when the audience does not know exactly how much the ticket rates are. Both chambers want to take a decision on this. We feel that it is a good result to take a decision in Telangana to ensure that the ticket rates are fixed. Producers should think and decide how to release the movie in more theatres. We think that this will benefit the producers as well,” he said.
