Jagan Mohan Reddy deflected private criticism of power purchase agreements and said his government had secured the cheapest power purchase agreements in the history of Andhra Pradesh. Questioning the motives of those criticizing these agreements, it is suggested to take action keeping in mind their unemployment or political interests.
Moreover, he alleged that power purchase agreements during Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure have put a huge financial burden on the state, costing an additional ₹2,000 crore annually and ₹50,000 crore over 25 years. Chandrababu said that the agreements made by Chandrababu were harmful to the financial condition of the state and he explained the efforts made to save ₹1 lakh crore during his government.
