Revanth Reddy: Telangana state is all set to usher in the New Year with joy. In particular, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s government has made many new promises. The most important of them is the increase in support pensions. These are schemes especially for the elderly, single women and the disabled. The hike will come into effect by January or February 2024. If the increase is as people expect, they may be ready to get double pensions in their accounts.
Revanth Reddy to Increase Pension Scheme
The move was taken by the Congress party mainly as part of its election promises. These guarantee assurances have created a good impression among the people. The Revanth Reddy government, which has already implemented many promises like free bus services, discount on cylinders, free electricity, farmer loan waiver, has now decided to complete the increase in support pensions as well. Although the KCR government first increased these pensions in 2014, the increase is now likely to increase further as promised by the Congress.

Although there is a lot of opposition to this hike in the state, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy seems to have taken this decision to favor the people. Although last year the Sarkar had shown laxity on the issue of Rythu Bharosa and Rythu Loan Waiver, it felt that it was important to satisfy the people and now it has decided to increase the Asara pensions ahead of the election process from August to March.
Further, in Telangana these support pensions were started as a scheme in 2014. Initially, it was only Rs.200 for the elderly, but now the Revanth Reddy government is coming forward with the intention of increasing it several times to Rs.4000. After the hike given by the KCR government in 2018, the strength of these support pensions has increased further. Now with this increase, the morale of the people of Telangana is going to be shaken. Revanth Reddy’s Sarkar responded promptly when the pressure on the government increased, understanding the public’s experiences. Further, the government is preparing to provide more assurances to the farmers after Sankranti.
