Tollywood versatile actor Rao Ramesh’s latest film is “Maruthi Nagar Subramaniam”. And Ankit Koya acted as his son in this movie. The film is being released by creative genius Sukumar’s wife Tabitha and is produced by Bujji Rayudu Pentyala and Mohan Karya under PBR Cinemas and Lokamatre Cinematics. Directed by Laxman Karya. The movie will release on August 23. Ankit Koya gave an interview on this occasion and let’s see what he shared.
You have acted in many films. But he is giving an interview for the first time. Tell me about yourself
Ours is Visakha. I did B.Tech in Geetam University. I was normal till school days. Don’t even know about grooming. I have a friend named Deepak Saroj. He is a child artist. He acted in many movies. Because of him, I also got interested in acting. I started participating in cultural activities in college. After two years, the seniors would entrust me to give training to the newcomers. From there I slowly got into ads and movies. While in college… I got an opportunity to act in an OLX ad with Allu Arjun. After watching the audition, Bunny himself selected me.
How did the opportunity come in this ‘Maruti Nagar Subramaniam’?
In the movie, Indraja played the character of my mother. When our director Laxman Karya narrated the story to her… she suggested me for the boy role. We played mother and son roles in a movie. The movie is not released yet. I shot with her for two days. She doesn’t even remember my name. But, if the story of Lakshman is told… he referred that the boy would be very good. If Laxman found the work… he doubted whether I would be able to do it after seeing the characters I had done till then. Everything went fine after the audition.
Tell us about your character in the film
When you are a child, you cry at home… ‘You are not born for us. We brought it from somewhere! My character is… ‘I am not born in this house, I am the son of Allu Arvind. Allu Arjun is my elder brother’ type. At one scene, Rao asks Ramesh, ‘When will you send me to my house?’ Good fun was generated from that character.
Allu Arvind is the presenter of ‘Ai’. Did you ask him about ‘Maruti Nagar Subramaniam’ when you met him?*
Recently met Allu Arvind. He saw the trailer of ‘Maruti Nagar Subramaniam’. Should I say that I am Arvind’s son? ‘What the hell… you are walking around claiming to be my son. I know’ he said jokingly. Allu family, I have some connection! Added ‘OLX’ with Allu Arjun. I did ‘Ai’ under the banner of Allu Arvind. In this movie ‘Maruti Nagar Subramaniam’, Allu played the role of a family member.
Tell me about your work experience with Rao Ramesh? Did you learn anything from him?
I still don’t know how to act. What the director said will follow. He asked Rao Ramesh if he would give him any advice. ‘You are doing well. Continue like that’ he said. My father and grandfather used to stage plays. Maybe… those jeans came! My first day shooting with Rao Ramesh. There is a scene in the combo of the two of us. Put your hand on his shoulder and say a dialogue. Our director Laxman Anna told us when and at what timing. After the scene, they praised him saying ‘you have good timing’. While shooting, I used to sit slightly away from him in the middle of the shot gap. They used to say ‘I love you dad’ and hug while leaving. After working with him, I gained more respect.
Sukumar is supporting the film, how is all this?
I was not lucky enough to meet Sukumar. However, I see how Sukumar garu and Tabitha garu are being supported from time to time by Lakshman Anna. Laxman said that after watching the movie, Sukumar spoke well of everyone. Laxman publicized the movie to get the attention of Sukumar and Tabitha couple.
