Sourav Ganguly who is the President of Board of Control for Cricket had an affair with the popular actress Nagma during 2000 when both their careers are at their peak level. Nagma who made her debut with Baaghi in 1990 was a super success. Later, she became one of the topmost heroines in Telugu film industry. Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly also hade a very good Ranji season during 1990-91 which got him selected for Indian cricket team in 1992.

In Sourav Ganguly got married to his childhood friend Dona in 1997 and had a remarkable performance in the world cup in 1999. This is the time when both Nagma and Sourav met and from here their closeness increased, blossomed by the time Sourav took the reigns as captain of Indian cricket team. Both were spotted together many times and their meeting in Chennai has sparked a series of rumours that they got married secretly in a temple. But here there was a twist as it created furore at Sourav’s home.

Dona entered the scene and threatened Sourav with a divorce as a result things have settled down with successful breakup of Nagma and Sourav with both parting ways in 2003.

Referring to her relationship with Sourav Ganguly, Nagma said, “No one is denying what they have said. As long as no one denies each other’s presence in each other’s lives, Then whatever people say, it doesn’t matter.” She also commented on her separation, “When things become too much, they start affecting each other’s interest. Then if you want to bring happiness in other’s life too, then You can only bring misery. Then it becomes necessary to move forward for the benefit of both.” Nagma was also linked with actors Sarath Kumar and Ravi Kishan earlier which were not confirmed by any of them. She is now acting as the General Secretary of All India Mahila Congress after getting defeated from Meerut in 2014.
