The Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has directed the administration to chalk out strategies for smooth implementation of a lockdown in the coming days as positive cases of coronavirus reached 40,414 with 108 deaths on Sunday in the State.

Mumbai alone recorded 6,923 cases with 8 fatalities on Sunday and Thackeray has hinted that “Plan for lockdown if there is no adherence to restrictions,” said Thackeray, pointing out that while the government is putting up a fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, the situation is not being taken seriously by the people seriously and added that lockdown seems to be the only solution to curtail the increase in the cases.

India recorded 62,714 cases on Sunday which is the highest in five months after October 16, 2020 wherein 63,371 cases were reported. Apart from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, and Punjab have seen highest surge in cases on Sunday triggering a series of measures in these States to control the growth of Covid-19 cases.
