Debutants Prasidh Krishna (4/54) and Krunal Pandya (58* and 1/59) made merry and they both proved their worth along with Shikar Dhawan who made a magnificent 98 that ensured India’s win in the first ODI against England at Pune.
Batting first, India amassed 317/5 with Rahul finding his form with a well made 62* and Kohli too continuing his superb batting display with 56 well made runs but its the knock of Krunal Pandya in the end which has changed the entire situation giving India a reasonably good total to defend on a pitch which is perfect to bat on.
Prasidh Krishna who is making his debut got rough treatment from England openers Jason Roy (46) and Jonny Bairstow (94) in his first spell but he had the last laugh when he dismissed Roy when the partnership between Roy and Bairstow is looking too dangerous. Later he went on to take important wickets of Ben Stokes, Sam Billings, and Tom Curran at crucial times to blew the chances of England away who were finally bundled out for 251 with 7.5 overs to spare. Prasidh Krishna has got the rare honour of being the first bowler to claim highest number of wickets on a ODI debut.
