Budumuru Nagaraju an Ex-Ranji Cricketer who represented Andhra Pradesh has been arrested in Hyderabad for duping nine corporate firms of Rs.40 lakhs. His modus operandi came to light when he tried to impersonate as the personal secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao.

While disclosing the modus operandi of Nagaraju, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar had said that the accused used to make phone calls to corporate companies, corporate hospitals, realtors, and educational institutions introducing himself as Bandaru Tirupathi, the personal secretary of K.T. Rama Rao. Then he used to ask for donations for making arrangements for the swearing in ceremony of K.T. Rama Rao as Chief Minister of Telangana. In this process he collected around Rs.40 lakhs from nine companies.

Police arrested the accused on Saturday and seized his mobile and cash of Rs.10 lakhs from his possession and on interrogation Nagaraju has revealed that he got habituated to lavish and luxurious lifestyle as a result he hatched a plan to earn quick money. This MBA graduate from Srikakulam has represented Andhra Pradesh in Ranji Trophy matches during 2014-2016 and got a criminal record earlier where he was jailed in 10 cases across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
